for normal use that is.. mine are solid i think.. 87 auto.. a UK car.. also why would difficulty changeing gear be down to the (possibly) failed mounts.. surely the main symptom would be the engine just sitting lower.. again i am assuming none drag-racing type gear changes.. i think a failed mount might allow the engines to rise up under fierce acceleration perhaps.. but i cant see how this would effect normal gear changes.. thinking about it the back of the engine would lift under torque and the front try and go down.. it would go the opposite way to the wheels..
either way i recon any fundermental changes are better done thru the breakers yard route.. especially if u can find some decent solid mounts.. any other way would certainly involve high expenditure.. i assume money matters..
out of curiosity are there many classic saab 900s still kicking about in the UK. i have only seen about three or four in the last six weeks.. they certainly aint as common as volvos.. he he
