1988 base 900 starts great and runs great at all times but in recent months I hear a thump, thump or whomp, whomp from inside the car when I give it some rpms at idle or when accelerating while driving until the car has been driven for 10 or 15 minutes. I have started it up and, raised the hood and revved it up by hand and cant hear it and when standing behind the car I sometimes hear a strange buzzing sound that might be a pump. At idle I can bend down in the front seat with my head under the glove box and it is very noticeable. My wife cant hear it and if I take my hearing aid out I barely hear it. At first I thought of a rod knock or failing pulley or harmonic balancer or fuel pump. Could it be a vibration in an exhaust manifold or head pipe? Only does it when you increase the rpms. I did put a new Auxillary Air Valve on a few weeks ago and noise seems worse but that doesnt make sense. Could a weak oil pump cause a noise until warmed up? OBVIOUSLY I NEED HELP Anyone experience this or have ideas?
