Since restoring and painting my 82T 4dr, either I or someone else has come close to doing serious damage to my car quite a few times. Here in the congested city and environs of LA, there's plenty of opportunities for trouble. It did get one minor bash once when I was indoors. While parked behind a theater in a narrow alley, someone (my therory is one of the speeding valets from the next door restaurant parking) sideswiped my front bumper, damaging the license plate, it's mount and frame. An inch or two more over into my car and that would have really sucked. Then there's all the "thank god my brakes work good enough" and freeway lane changing near misses. What if I did total the car one day? Probably pull all the useful parts off the wrecked one and restore another C900.
