New valves and no start

I've just replaced 2 valves on my 86 8v Turbo, everything is back in place, engine turns, distributor sparks and I'm pretty sure fuel is available at the jets, it just won't start.
Definetly not out by a tooth or 2 on the cam belt, if you tie wrap the chain to the cog, less chance of messing it up.
Any ideas?
Any thing a beginner is likely to have forgotten?
