ok ...a while ago hinges broke, also had the typical dings, and 3 year old paint was peeling (clearcoat) So I picked up a hood about 2 weeks ago 37$ Sacramento.....Paint was silver gray ..not my ED. GRAY...had a couple dings. Pretty straight though. Under heat pad was in great cond.( one on old hood was falling apart)hinges were strong! Had the saab letters on both sides. Didnt like that. So I take it to a med budget paint place. trying to save some cash.( the owner stripped my roof and did an awsome paint job about 6 months ago for 220$) So he says 300$...That included removing the dings & 2 stage clear. He asked what my paint code was..I said 204 b. I pick up the hood 3 days later and noticed they painted the hood with the badge , the fluid nipples, and the two saab letter badges on the car. The car had the same dings, the paint was orange peeled, and dust specs were under the paint, and........the paint had clouds of darker paint in the middle. And..the paint was the same color that was on the hood when I brought it. It was a big color mismatch. So...I took it home removed all the little shit from it , brought it back the next day(today) and told him to make it look like a fckun mirror! This is the second hood I have had painted. Every panal on my car has been repainted. If I got crappy jobs all those times it would be a joke! I think the hood is the most importaint piece for paint quality. So...I pick it up Sat, I have a nice new large griffin badge. I'll let you know how it turned out.
