The first thing I would do is get a cheap calibrated boost gauge from a speed shop and tee it into a vac/boost line under the hood and have the gauge in the car. Pull APC solenoid plug and run car at WOT in 4th to see what base boost is. If you have never reset base boost, I'll bet it's at 3 psi. Shorten the wastegate rod until the base boost is between 5-6psi. Spool up and boost will be improved.
If your catalytic converter is original, a new one will make a significant difference in spoolup. Sport exhaust is good for a little extra, as well.
3 BAR FPR will help and the NGK 7 plugs are actually a cooler range plug that will reduce the onset of detonation slightly and are a good idea.
As burlyb suggests, increasing retard slightly on boost will cut down on the tendency to hit the knock sensor when in red. You can buy the new distributor module from George's or SPG9 or try modifying it yourself. You need an inductive timing light, a mityvac pressure/vacuum pump and a dremel tool.
First check your base timing with the light and the dist hose disconnecte and plugged. Let's say your at 15-16 BTDC. Then hook the pressure side of pump to distributor module and apply pressure while checking timing. See how far simulated boost retards spark. Then remove dist vacuum module and find the little stop that limits retard. With the dremel grind a very slight amount(few thousandths of an inch) off the stop. Put module back on and recheck timing retard with air pressure on module. I would by trial grind enough off until you have added about 4 degrees of additional retard. Then set your base timing to 20 BTDC. I think the modified modules might provide more retard than 4 degrees(7???), but 4 is a start. If you screw up and overgrind the stop, you can turn it slightly with a small visegrip to get a fresh surface.
MSD makes an electronic ignition controller that does all this electronically and you can put restrictor ports in the APC solenoid lines to fool the system. The Performance Board has numerous posts on this stuff.
