90 SPG - had a similar problem Posted by vsfoxe [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: new manual sunroof headliner, new wind noise -=Help, Ron, Wed, 18 Dec 2002 01:40:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A couple months ago I bought a C900 in Chicago (I live in Maine). The seller was just finishing the headliner when I picked up the car. I noticed excessive wind noise at +/- 45 mph and higher (it is my 8th C900). Looked at sunroof from outside vehicle, and the back end of it was not "up" level with the roof when it was closed, but it seemed like it was in there solidly. Drove it home (1300 miles).
Turns out that the installer reassembled the sunroof incorrectly. The plastic strip which is screwed onto the leading edge of the roof by 4 sheet metal screws was missing. As a matter of fact, there were no screws! So the "Headliner painted panel" was not attached to the main headliner unit, and I think when it "shut" the white ramps contacted each other, and the painted panel didn't "bump up" to close the rear. Haven't located a replacement strip yet, but 4 nice screws with decent sized washers are now holding everything together perfectly, and excessive wind noise is gone. Luckily I had another 90 SPG in my yard to compare notes!
So - Is your plastic strip with 4 screws installed? Are the four screws properly installed and holding everything together? When your roof is closed, is the painted surface flush with the roof on all sides?
It's worth checking.
