Do you mean FPT and LPT (not LPG)??

If so, FPT stands for Full Pressure Turbo, and LPT stands for Light Pressure Turbo. In European markets only, you could buy an FPT SAAB, which is essentially the same as the Turbo models available here in the States (i.e., APC and intercooler), or you could buy an LPT which has a turbo that boosts kinda low and has no APC or intercooler. I don't know if the C.R. is the same as the N/As or the Turbos.

Some European owners convert their LPTs to FPTs by retrofitting the FPT stuff. IIRC, all LPT models in Europe have Mitsu turbos and the "hi-po" distributor (Bosch # ending in 010), which has a better, more gradual timing curve than the 008 units.

Here in the States, some people will take a run-of-the-mill N/A SAAB and fit a Turbo manifold/Turbo, etc. to it and run it at 6-7psi. Apparently nice and quick, better @ lo-revs. Probably the easiest turbo conversion out there cuz everything is ready-made. However, if you want the full deal, get a Turbo model & don't mess around with a retrofit to an N/A.

If you want detailed info on converting an LPT to FPT, google SAAB 900 and look for a Euro-based SAAB forum...
