fan abuse ..., new 87C switch. Posted by Kevin K [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: with highway driving it shouldnt come on at all.., trog100, Wed, 18 Dec 2002 14:56:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
"the gap between the fan coming on and normal driving temps is to stop it coming on all the time"
that is what saab (and all other oem's) intend. unfortunately, there is a myth that an 82C t-stat and 82C fan switch is a good thing, so excessive use of very expensive fan assemblies is a chronic occurance/problem.
As a test, I've had the 82C switch a while. Although my very clean rad limits fan abuse in the winter to next to nill, fans were on way to much late summer, while in traffic and aft shutdown. Never ran aft shut dwn with oem 92C switch.
I have an 87C switch (eeuroparts.com) to go in bef next summer, should be great match with 82c t-stat. It's euro ford spec, but worked with wahler, eeuroparts, and their supplier to set it up in usa.
