3 wires are: Posted by vsfoxe [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Not the same heater unit?, Nathan Pflaum ![]() |
I think (according to Bentley's Manual): Yellow-White = 12V Positive; Black = Ground/Negative; Blue goes to dash Rheostat, and is from the Temperature Transmitter in the driver's seat.
I'm not too good with schematics, but what I see looks like the Temperature Transmitter is in your old seat. One end connects to the negative ground wire, with the other end going to the blue wire of your old 3-pronged plug. So, can't you remove the transmitter and 3-pronged plug (with transmitter attached, perhaps?) from your old seat, attach the other end of the transmitter to your new seat's grounded wire, and splice the Yellow-White wire and the black wire to the Pos/Neg of your new seat? Of course the Temperature Transmitter needs to be located in a similar area of new seat to probably provide the right feedback signal to the Dashboard rheostat. Seems to me that should work? Oh yeah, there's a Thermostatic Button in the new heating element's circuit, and it will need to be removed (and put wire back together with some high quality stranded wire to flex) or "jumped around".
Maybe some others have done this already, and have better idea?
I'd be interested in how you end up, since I'll be doing something along that line, and I imagine passenger seats are much easier to get that decent driver's seats. Did you use the back off the Pass. seat, also?
