I went to run some errands at lunch. I start the car and it clicks once and nothing. It has done this before and I assumed it was due to dirty posts/terminals. When it has happened before, it starts on the second try. This time it would not start, just the click.
So, I break out the multimeter and see that the batt. is at 10.5 volts. I cleaned the terminals, including the connections to the starter. Now it turns over very slowly but won't catch. I change dteh oil and filter last week, so I look at the back of the alternator and see no black ground wire attached. I find a wire atatched to the inside fender by the alt., and a clip. I can get a jump.
QUESTION: where does the black wire attach on the alternator? Its damn dark in the parking garage and I don't have a flash light. Can I just rig up a ground from the alt. case to the block?
TIA
TM
