Is JB Weld Strong Enough To ...

...fix the welds on my hood? A few weeks I shut my hood but I left a large metal flashlight sticking out of the engine bay by the base of the windshield when I did it. Closing the hood on the flashlight ripped part of the welds on the hood above where the bolts are. Did that make sense? The welds I am talking about are on the hood it self not on the hinge assembly. Anyway my hood now sits so low I can't even check the oil with out holding it up out of my way. I was thinking of taking the hood off, pounding the metal back into place with a rubber mallet and then using jb weld to secure it back together. I just don't know if JB weld will be strong enough or will I be wasteing my time. Other suggestions?
