Switches need to be gently pried open. Too hard and they crack. There are catches at either end that need to be gently released. Look for them. They need to be released simultaneously while you also pry the unit slowly apart. Hard to describe, but I have done it a dozen times, so it is easy. DO NOT JUST POP UNIT OPEN, or you will spill the parts. Observe how they come apart and go together. Then remove a part at a time and clean first with soap then with an emory board or sand paper or small file. Then put back together, remembering that the stuff is side specific, meaning that you cannot put it together so that the ON side turns it OFF. Each switch takes 10 minutes tops for a beginner who is efficient. Now it takes me less than 4 minutes a switch.
