Where is it? I'll check it out. :) Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: More info on the SPG..., Tim B., Thu, 2 Jan 2003 18:58:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 90 SPG with 116k. I got it at 99k for just over $5k. It had a fresh head gasket, brakes, motor mounts, and some other minor stuff. Body is not perfect, and the A/C blew out less than 2 months into it. That said, I'd drive it across the country today. I've got great confidence in the car since I've learned to work on it and have replaced all fluids, t-stat, vacuum line, some hoses, etc.
Now, if you had a tranny replaced, that's great. BUT, typically they're known to go at a higher milage. Think 140-150k. That leads me to believe 1 of a few things... The car was driven HARD, the previous owner(s) didn't know how to drive a stick, or the odometer stopped long ago. Look at things like pedal wear, condition under the hood, the carpet around the pedals, the wear on the steering wheel. You want to see if the car has the wear and tear of a 200k car...
The price seems favorable for a car with all that work done on it, just have it checked out by a pro. Look for typical rust spots (door bottoms, fenders, etc.), evidence of damage, run a carfax, etc.
Cheers,
Randy
