I hear you man! But I toyed with that senario (minus changer) for months and failed I HIGHLY recommend you pull everything Saab out- and drop in a new system of your choice.
Set up a test stand with a battery and if you can make it work- PLS post back here, because there will be a market for it.
Hold on- I just your post again. I think I'm confused- pretty normal.
Depends on brand?? I've never tried this, but a Clarion changer may be your best bet (think- Clarion head- Clarion changer). Regardless of brand, you will have to cut the OE cable and start testing the changer (+/- only go one 1 place- don't mess these up)- the rest is getting the signal right from the OE head/EQ to the changer. It may never work? I've never heard of a premanufactured adapter for this.
See what a shop wants to build a custom- and do the thinking work for you?
Luck- Steve
