Cooling system problems

I have a 1992 900S, w/ 16 valves. Here are the facts, summarized:
- coolant leak where hoses enter the throttle plate housing
- when tightened a little bit the collar of the hose going to the water pump, a second leak appeared on the bypass valve
- the fan doesn't kick in, even with engine hot. I checked the fan, the thermoswitch, and the relay, and they're all good. Consequently, the temp gauge gets higher and higher, slowly (it is still cold outside).
- high-pitch squeal when the car is cold, and accelerates at low speeds; after engine warms up, the sqweal is gone. I mentioned this, because somebody said that water pump leaks could be the culprit.
- when car starts cold, the alternator shakes rather strongly, and the car sounds like a little tractor. After engine warms up, this goes away too.
- the heater works fine.
From the list, I picked out several causes for different simptoms, but couln't compile them to something coherent. I think they are all related somwhow, since they happened pretty much in the same time, or very little one after the other. I appreciate all suggestions.
