I've heard it's common for that to happen on the 91+ shifters. Best off replacing it, unless you know how to weld. You can possibly replace the shift rod. The tube is ~0.5inches and homedepot sells 0.5" tube so you could possibly replace the shift rod but you will have to do some implementation on the design.

If you go the replacement route, let me know what you're going to do w/ your broken parts. I was thinking of designing a new shifter and could use the parts:)
