That brown/white wire normally goes off to the overboost sensor in an LH 2.2 car. In an LH 2.4 car, overboost protection is done by the ECU. I don't have wiring diagrams on hand, but my guess is that with the swap you've done, it shouldn't make any difference. I'd leave them connected, however, just to be sure.
I can't think of what problem could exist that would lead to a 5-10 second run. I'd start by hooking up a DMM to the ground output from the ECU that goes to the fuel pump relay, to find out if the ECU is keeping the relay engaged or not. Also check the Hall Sensor and ICU to make sure you've got a steady RPM signal reaching the ECU. Other than that, check out the ECU troubleshooting techniques in the Bentley manual...
