While you might have an inner driver problem, sometimes the large axle nut loosens up and can cause exactly what you are experiencing. it's a 32mm or 1 1/4" nut that needs to be tight (200ftlbs). You don't need a torque wrench, just a breaker bar, to crank it as tight as you can.

Now the bad news. If the nut was loose, there is a good chance that you have cooked the bearing and possibly the hub. The bearing relies on the axle nut to support it between the CVjoint and the hub. When the axle nut gets loose, the fragile bearing can move from side to side. Additionally, the hub shaft can spin in the bearing race and get ground down. I would tighten the axle nut and see if the bearing makes the humming growl mentioned by others.

If it does, you need a new bearing and maybe the hub. A small hydraulic press is best to press out the old and press in the new. If you don't have one, a good machine shop can do the job. While the pressing process is easy with a press, you have to be careful to avoid ANY lateral pressure on the races. Then you get to do it again, ;-)) I use the old bearing pieces as arbors on the new bearing as follows: press bearing into spindle with old outer bearing shell and then press bearing(in spindle) onto hub shaft using old center race. It also helps to have a good heavy duty snap ring tool to get the two snap rings back in. But it's actually easier to pry the old rings out with two screwdrivers by working your way around the ring until it's out. When you or the shop has everything apart, inspect the shaft of the hub for any chamfering at the end. If it's beat up and not square, you have spun the bearing on this shaft and need a new hub. A used one is fine.
