You could have a bad ignition switch mechanism or maybe you have cooked some wires in the harness that runs along the side of the shifter console area and picks up wires from the ignition switch and runs up to the 152a connector between the body and the area under the fuse panel. Either way, i'd remove the driver seat and center console, and use a meter to test what's up with the switch. To get to the switch you have to unscrew the "tamper proof" nuts on the shfter. Whack them with a screwdriver or make a socket by cutting slots in an old socket(10mm?) with a dremel tool. I'll bet you find 12 volts continuously at the run position terminal even when the switch is not in the run position. If the switch is OK, dig into the harness and look for melted wires.

If your ignition switch ever got stuck in the start position for a short time after the car started, the unfused gray wire to the switch and the yellow(red trace?) wire from the switch to the starter solenoid will get hot and melt insulation all over the place. You can get similar, but less severe problems, if the heat shield above the catalytic converter rusts out and the heat cooks a few wires.
