I've never tried the Honda MTL, but in the past have run Redline MTL for hundreds of thousands of miles on my 900s. Definitely made for smoother shifting. Don't know about wear, but I ran one trans nearly 200,000 miles on Redline before it finally started making expensive noises.
However, I just had a rebuilt 5-speed installed in my '86 900S, and the shop wants only the factory-specified 10W30 motor oil used in it during the 12 month warranty period. They said that synthetics tend to ruin the seals. (In general, the use of synthetic oils in the C900 5-speed seems to be controversial amongst professional Saab techs.)
Between the new/stiff tranny and the 10W30 oil that first 1-2 shift on a cold morning is a real bear!!
