Back when I had Alpine amps I mounted them under the back seats & they never overheated. If you have a well built amp which is not running low ohm loads you will be fine installing the amp under there!
I think it takes a LOT more work to move the head down low vs simply running the wires up top. I have never been a fan of radio's down below due to them not being as easily seen/adjusted when driving.
Also removeing the seats to run the wires is a waiste of time! It is VERY EASY to simply run the wires by reaching your arm under the seat. No seat removal necessary!!
When I run wires from my head to the drivers foot area, I can pass the wire from 1 hand to another. There is actually a large opening behing there & to find it I would suggest using a flashligh & shine it where the radio would be. Then lay on your back & look for the light. There is tons of room :o)
4v pre outs, my deck is 16v balanced outputs. I do not have to worry about engine whine :o) If the output is not balanced, engine whine can hapen especially when the pre outs are high ohm.
