Hi all-
Just wanted to post a quick one about my somewhat unusual o2 sensor story. I say unusual because I had to removed the turbo elbow to get the sensor back IN, rather than out. Anywho... Went over to my mechanics place yesterday afternoon to do the job. (He is a great guy and great mechanic and lets me use some shop stuff and helps me through the tough spots when I need it. I help him keep his shop computers going.) After we finally got the old sensor out, I was having a hard time getting the new one in. It seems that the threads in the elbow needed some help. After a try and running a tap with the elbow in place, we decided that it needed to come off. Now the fun starts. We all know what those stud bolts are like and mine were mostly no exception. The shortest stud came out, but the end was free of threads. No problem though, my guy had a replacement on hand. The long one at the bottom was a bear. After about 1/2 hour of careful work and penetrating oil, it was out, but looked like crap. Again, my guy to the rescue. He fabricates a new stud from a bolt. After chasing the threads in the O2 hole and the short stud hole (that one made me really nervous) I was in the reassembly stage. No problems there! I was tickled. I did use the Mustang spec Bosch sensor (13942 if I recall) which was procured from our local NAPA for $35. I was EXTREMELY grateful for my mechanics help, expertise and tools. If anyone needs a mechanic in the Bryan/College Station, TX area, Bill Marden at Autoworks (http://www.autoworkscs.com/) is great.
That's about all.
