Maval also has a lifetime guarantee through sobstory. To enforce the guarantee, Maval says that your must flush the P/S system prior to installation and then run some fluid through a coffee filter(or equivalent) to prove that there are no particles left in the system. I think they are lenient on this(see below). I also think that their rebuilt racks are better than OEM, because they have been resleeved with better than OEM material.
I replaced one myself after trying to nurse a leaking rack with P/S sealer as you have done.. If the sealer did not work, it is likely that the seals have degraded to the point of disintegration, which is made worse by the additive. Anyway, although I flushed the system and the filter showed not metal particles, I was not thorough enough and there were a couple of pieces of seal still floating around. Of course, these immediatly lodged in the spindle valve and steering was stiff. I called Maval and they offered to replace the rack, no questions. But the engineer i talked to understood what had happpened. We talked though the issue and I ended up using a Mity-vac to draw fluid out of the pressure line to the rack in order to reverse flush the system...actually quite easy. After a few cycles, the offending bits of seal came out. Put the line back together, fired up the car and P/S was perfect. Bottom line, Maval is a trusted source and make sure your tech flushes the hell out of the system.
