Also check with the tire maker to see where the tires should be on loading. Ford didn't, and the Firestones blew up. True, the Firestones were from a defective plant, but what if they were loaded like Firestone said and not to Ford specs. Might have changed history. I keep my tires at about 33-34 PSI, as per manufacturer specs. Who knows? Then again, I drive a convertible so my car is heavier than a hardtop, and I frequently drive 3 people at a time. Who has time to deflate and inflate and deflate and inflate?
I guess my conclussion is that the specs on the tire chart on the visor are a suggestion meant for OE tires, and like all suggestions they need to be evaluated and adjusted when we switch tires. Tires have revolutionized just over the 5 years to the last decade, and our cars were designed over 10 years ago, so things have changed and the Saab specs might no longer apply. If there are any tire pros out there, it would be great if you would step up to the bat or direct us where to look for definative answers.
