...sounds as if you may be looking at a total. Glad your daughter is fine; makes me feel right about having both my kids in Saabs!
Point-counterpoint:
1. Don't ever let yourself feel any car is irreplacable. If it's totaled, let it be. Work to get the best settlement you can and move on. If they want to fix it, the burden is on the insurance co. to get it right.
2. Even totals CAN be fixed back to perfect. Yes, perfect. For example, I'm driving a 94 900SE with 108k that was wrecked at about 30k. Front-end wreck, salvage title. The car drives absolutely perfectly, and I would defy anyone to find fault with this car. Frame shops have much more sophisticated equipment than they did years ago. Dog-tracking and doors that don't seal just don't happen when the work is done right. Salvage titles protect the consumer so we know what's up, but that does not mean a fixed wreck can't be perfect!
