Hi everyone

I have an '86 900s Auto tranny, and I have only very recently encountered a bad problem. It started when I noticed my car stalled at startup. Not normal for this car, but it only happened once a week or so.

Just recently, as if a gate opened, it would stall every time. This was on a very very cold morning. It got to the point where the car would not start at all unless I gave it gas while cranking the engine. That is how it is now.

I have to hold in the gas (ever so slightly) while going into reverse or drive. I have found myself needing to shift into neutral at stop signs just so I can keep my foot on the gas so I won't stall out. Once the car warms up, I can stop without stalling, but I idle now at 500 rpm.

I have tried using water remover in my gas (since the temperature here hasn't cleared 20F in weeks), and fuel injector cleaner. Neither helped.

The worst, and most recent realization is that I am only getting about half the gas mileage I used to. I just went through half my tank in one day, and basically went nowhere far!

One other problem I have noticed is when the car is under heavy acceleration (like climbing a hill), it will feel like it's kicking a little. Not like backfiring, but it feels just like gusts of wind hitting my car head on. No change in engine sound however.

I have been told this problem might be from low fuel pressure, but why am I having low fuel pressure? Is the low gas mileage any indication as to the exact problem?

I am taking it to get inspected on Thursday, but I would like to be ready and maybe have parts needed if I need a new FPR or fuel filter or something. It would be much cheaper to get them online in advance. Does anyone recognize these symptoms? Please help me.

Thank you.
