Get a hair drier and blow on the thing for 5 minutes on low/medium setting. High might melt plastic. Then blow water out using a straw or one of those cans of computer keyboard cleaner air spray. Finally spray with a Tiny Tiny bit of wd40.
Another way is to take a heating pad or hot water bottle and lay it over the lock, on High, or using boiling HOT water. Leave for 7-10 minutes, then repeat as necessary. Then blow water out using a straw or one of those cans of computer keyboard cleaner air spray. Finally spray with a Tiny Tiny bit of wd40.
Rubbing alcohol has 30% water, and under 0 degrees F it will still freeze and cause trouble.
The lock freeing fluids for car doors might melt plastic, and I would stay away for fear of melting wires in the ignition assembly.
The trouble may not be over, as the Sprite may leave sugar and gum things up. That will require removal, but that is well described on this BB and takes only 20-60 minutes depending on how proficient you or your buddies are. I average about 25-30.
