I strongly and respectfuly disagree with this advice. Car covers intended for indoor use should not be used outside, but ones designed for outdoor use that can breath will be FAR better for the paint, top & interior than leaving the car exposed to the elements.
Covering a car with a regular cover (or worse, just a tarp) traps moisture inside which will definately damage the paint. But using a cover made of a breathable material, like Evolution 3, protects from acid rain, bird droppings, and most importantly, sun damage. Not only does the sun fade and crack paint and trim, but it does the same to the interior - dash, seats, etc. And the interior of a car with a cover on it is dramatically cooler than an uncovered one. I've used covers made of Evolution fabric on our un-garaged cars for over a decade and they've made a huge differnce.
I'm not sure Beverly Hills Motoring is around anymore, but Griot's Garage carry's them (and a less bulky but more expensive material - "Weathersheild." A less expensive route would be to check the ads in the back of car magazines, as there are numerous places that sell them. Just make sure you get the proper material.
