>Is your brake fluid level low? If so, haave you seen any leaks?
The brake fluid reservoir was EMPTY. I refilled it immediately after finding eh problem hoping to temprarily restore enough functionality to move it out to the street for the tow, but refilling the reservoir and working the clutch and brakes didn't do anything. I don't know how long
it took to drain again, more than the 10 min I had the hood open.
There was oil on the snow underneath the FRONT clutch is on the 900)
of the engine compartment. I wasn't brave enough to eat the snow to
verify that it was brake/clutch fluid, it seemed obvious since the
engine doesn't normally leak (no visible oil on the driveway when parked
in its usual spot.
BTW, the mechanic in question is my BIL, so I don't think he's trying
to rip me off, he's just not a SAAB-knowledgeable mechanic (and, he's not a mechanic anyways, he's the shop manager). My regular mechanic is, unfortunately, 115 miles away.
