Replaced tranny now ignition switch broken - related??

I just spent numerous hours over the last week pulling my engine out of my '92 900 to put in a new transmission. I go to start up the car for the first time to check my handywork and --- NOTHING! The key goes all the way from one side to the other with nothing. The car beeps (fasten seat belts) when I first put the key in but other than that, nothing is happening. I get no lights, no power to the radio, nothing.
While it is a cool hobby to work on the car, the little nits are driving me crazy. I suffered throught a few hours of getting the shifter pin out and then back on and all the other pitfalls (bleeding the @$%#(#(@ clutch), tearing my inner driver boot covers, loosing a driver hose clamp (?) that I couldn't wait to get it finished and started again. NOW I CAN'T EVEN DO THAT! I'm so frustrated with this thing, I'm ready to kick it.
Is my ignition switch problem due to the tranny replace? I did move the shifter without the key in while trying to mate up the shifter linkage to the transmission. Could that have broken something?
ANY help is welcome.
