Cross-drilling is nothing but marketing

It looks cool. It doesn't help cool the brakes. It makes for less mass, therefore less dissipation of heat since the air does not escape from the holes as one imagines it does - at least not in any amount to make the disk cool any better. I wish the SCCA kept their club magazine online - last year they had a great series of articles about brakes and it included the math to show that cross drilled rotors hinder cooling.
Makes me think of a certain Austin Healey in which vents were put in the front wings of the car in hope that they'd allow air to escape from the engine bay so as to cool the engine better and decrease overheating. This was not tested...just produced. Later, they found the darn things were certainly moving air through the engine bay, but it caused air to be reduced through the radiator and so the car overheated worse than ever. 'Twas a neat idea, but it didn't wash when brought to reality.
BUT, hey, cross-drilled rotors "look" cool. You're not likely to use them hard enough in street driving to cause problems. And since ya know they're more fragile, you'll check them more often than other types so perhaps you can argue that they're safer. :o)
But know that real racers will consider you a member of the unwashed poseur group, concerned with style over substance.
