Ok, you definately got a good deal, but auction or not, the guy could have gotten more for it.....hm, well, i too got a good deal(not as good as yours though), and i did experience some initial expenses. Some of which haven't been done because I'm waiting for non-blizzard conditions etc. Check for RUST under the right front side where the suspension and the driver bolt up to. You can easily inspect this from the up top, under the hood by getting a screwdriver and poking a little wher the 'wheel well' meets the surface that the battery sits on. Aparantly these puppies are notorious for this and many bodyshops wont touch it. Also it is dangerous if its bad. The car can look spotless but still have this going on (left side too, but uually not as bad). I have also found that its possible to 'force' the issue by driving it hard(relatively) and for several hours. This will help gremlins to come to the surface (please excuse the esoteric babble, but I really believe this).
Check everything that is electronic, and watch for coolant smells in the passenger compartment. What does the trip meter say? stuck on 000 means mileage is incorrect.
hope this was a little help.
