rebuilts are fine; you will need to ship back your old caliper as a core, which will also be rebuilt & resold.

got a bentley yet? get one if not. even if they were $100 (they're not), they're worth every penny.

here are a few things to keep in mind:

you'll need a *6-sided* 10mm deep socket to get the locator stud off (6-sided minimizes stripping risk). get some PB Blaster penetrant and spray it on there first. if you live in rustville, do this a day in advance.

you'll need a set of metric allen keys.

have some hi-temp brake grease available. remove the guide pins on the rebuilt brake and make sure they have plenty of grease on them. add more if not.

you'll need brake cleaner to clean up the disk before you put the pads on; it must be grease-free.

before you start the job, inspect the rubber bellows pieces that protect the e-brake cable ends where they mate with the brakes. if they are cracked or rotted, replace them. ~$20 at the dealer only (total ripoff; buy 'em anyway). shove some grease up the cable housings and pack the bellows with some, too.

for bleeding, you either need to suck the fluid out with a vacuum tool (MityVac - very handy tool for numerous uses), or push it out with a fluid reservoir cap with a fitting that allows you to add several pounds of air pressure. gravity works, too.

do the clutch, too (same fluid system), which really needs to be done with pressure - vac method doesn't work so well. search "oil can" or "oilcan" & you should find info on how to do this.

last, make sure that the e-brake cables are adjusted the *same* on each brake.
