A compete engine varies from $600.00 up to $3500.00. The $3500.00 was a '94 turbo complete with 32K on it and was way to high compared to others. I got a '91 turbo complete for $800.00 with 82K miles on it. This included: turbo, exhaust and intake mani, no tranny. We took a lot from my '88 and put it on the '91 engine. There are some unethincal uniformed used engine sellers out there so be sure to get the vin # from the block, not the vin # from the car the engine came out of since the engine could have been changed and there records may be worng. I almost was sold an '88 engine which I was told was a '91. There are different warranties so be careful. I got the engine from a guy I felt I could trust and he shipped it from Illinois to Oregon for $270.00. I got lucky and the engine is really good and it feels like a new car.
Call the wreckers in your area. Call all the Saab shops and see where they get engines from. Good luck.
Best, KB.
