Literally 30 years ago I built myself a pair of 15ft jumper cables using #2 welding cable I picked up at a welding supply; the cables plus $15 for a couple of sweet insulated clamps (the cable crimped and torch-soldered onto the jaws which were bolted on to an insulator at the tip of the clamps). Those cables are still flexible, not corroded, and look like new today.
I wonder if one couldn't fabricate their own better than OEM positive cable using a good marine battery clamp, six feet of welding cable, and a eye-end crimped and soldered onto the other end??? Probably cost $6 for the cable and a few bux for the ends and a half hour to put it together...
