I put it in the stock position by sliding it towards the headlight as far as I could go. The batt is long and tall but it is narrow enough so that I could use 2 heat shields to cover the extra length of the batt. Also, 2 heat shields will protect the batt from heat better. I shoved the front heat shield down so the entire side of the batt is cover. Just one heat shield does not cover the bottom of the batt in the stock set-up so this always concerned me. I didn't need to use the two shield holding brackets because with the two heat shields the fit is snug on the bolt that sticks out and there is still room so not much of the pipe is touching the shield.
The specs on the Optima are CCA 900, CA 1125, length: 12 13/16", height: 9 3/8", width: 6 1/2".
It's a big one but fits really good. Maybe hatch install in the future.
Also the car starts on one or two revs compared to 6 or 7 with smaller batt I use to have.
The Optima was $200.00 but my 650 watt stereo has been killing the reg batteries.
Happy Saabing,
Best, KB.
