Maybe a stick? An errant wrench during repair?
I didn't do the work, so I don't know *exactly* what level this component is. I don't recall the guy saying it was OE, but it's cast (doesn't have the stamped metal cap like the upper bj above it). I think there are wires retaining the top & bottom of the boot. The problem is, I don't know how long it's been breached (I suppose it could've happened anytime between "just installed" & "just noticed it"). Since it's a lower, I'd guess cleaning it out completely would be nearly impossible? There's no play in it yet, so I'd rather use it than replace it. Do you know of any way to simply seal up greasy rubber & have the repair remain pliable?
