If the stop-leak route doesn't work, the only real solution is to replace the pump. It's possible to unbolt it and snake it out from behind the engine (the pulley has to be unbolted too), but it's a messy job because of all the leaked PS fluid down there. You could put in a new/rebuilt pump or get a servicable unit from the junkyard.
If you're going to replace the pump, consider replacing the steering rack at the same time with a rebuilt unit (or getting a rebuild kit for yours). With 150K miles on the car, the rack could still be fine, or it could be on its last legs. If it has "morning sickness" (sluggish response) on cold mornings then the rack is suspect. I know that's more $$$, but replacing the rack and pump at the same time will save some labor compared to replacing them separately.
Since you mentioned the smoke from the oil hitting the exhaust getting into the car, it is possible that the rubber boot that seals hole where the shift rod goes through the firewall is torn and leaking.
All these things are pretty cheap if you do them yourself, but labor costs can definitely add up in a shop.
