Question on driveshaft removal

I'm pulling the engine & trans out of 87 900 na 5 speed, its on the way to the junkyard,. What ie the least amount of work to remove driveshafts. My Haynes tells me to remove Upper ball joint with BJ separator tool, unblot lower ball joint from a arms , and disconnect steering tie rod. Can I just bust 1 ball joint and have enough room to pull the driveshafts? Upper or lower?
My favorite tools for this removal have been the razor for the hoses & wire clippers for the harness. Sure beats tagging & labeling everything. Thanks to the Saab Engineers, the environment will be a little less safe, as this partivular AC unit does not have a slot on the bottom mount. The bolt will not come out completely as it interferes with the alterntor housing, so the AC is coming out with the engine. (must disconnect hoses)
