Recently replaced cap and rotor, hall effect plug broke and was not secure. Wasn't thinking and rigged it in place with tape to cap. A few months later average temps warmed up and tape let loose, wires to hall effect sensor touched distributor body and melted, no go and $95 flat bed fee. Was able to take linkage off top of distributor, cap, rotor and back the three leads out of dist. with tweezers. Took braids from speaker wire and soldered directly to broken plug and leads to hall effect, heat shrink over that at a length as close to original as possible, then repack them in their proper place inside dist. Once in place, reassemble everything and wrapped arts and crafts type wire around plug that sits on dist. body. Went around both ways to hold straight and then wrapped all the way around dist. body to hold firmly to dist. body. Amazed and please at the results, Would have cost at least 170+ for good rebuilt parts plus more potential headaches. Did it for next to nothing in a couple hours. Hope this breeds some ideas and hope...
