Hi all,
i've got an 83 900t that needs a new turbo. i am taking the old one off, and having a bit of trouble. i've got the drivers side of the unit off, exposing the turbine and shaft. however, it stops there. i've taken off or loosened every other bolt and nut on the exhaust manifold and the bracket holding the vacuum pot, but the turbo itself wont come off. i understand that a piston-ring like system is used tohold it together, and that would explain why the unit will spin in place, however what is the trick to get the whole turbo off the manifold - does it require a good sledge hammer to break a stubborn seal? I've consulted a number of web sites with diy turbo info, but none of them mention what to expect at this stage of the operation.thanks,
Wayne
