Door locks, interior lights

I purchased an '87 900 turbo convertible recently and the passenger door does not lock. From the driver side I can hear the locking mechanism though it may be coming from the trunk. The lock pushes and pulls but doesn't seem to be catching. Also, the interior lights do not work. I've changed the bulb for the rearview light to no avail. The radio works and dash lights up for the most part though a little dark on the right. I'm not sure if they are related - the door lock and lights. I did find a Saab keyless remote unit under the back seat and when I plugged it in seemed to light up. Also, I'm still trying to locate the bypass valve for the top. I'm moving it manually now and want to close the valve to see if it will work. I know it's located somewhere behind the passenger side back seat or is it under the seat? What does it look like? Thanks in advance.
