What's that strange noise???

Hi, Friends.
Re: Our '93 C900...it's got a strange noise which I find rather unnerving, (and which I'm sure I'll have difficulty explaining in words), but which, as fate would have it, isn't always present so that when I take a drive with a mechanic they can't hear it. Now...the noise is getting worse, and is nearly always present, so I suppose I could again impose on the mechanic to take a drive with me, but I'd like to pose the question here in case someone is familiar with what this noise could represent, so that I'll have some terminology in my conversational arsenal when I speak with the mechanic. :)
The noise: It's best described as a very high-pitched sound which SEEMS as though it's coming from a rear wheel (passenger's side) area. Like this: eeeeeeee :)
The tie rod ends were looked at three times, as well as those other things, the names of which escape me at the moment.
The noise occurs as the wheels are turning, it seems. At high speed, we don't hear it.
I know this is terribly vague...just thought I'd toss it out there just in case someone might have some thoughts to offer. It has seen two different mechanics, but the noise remains, and well...I am just not all that fond of the thought that maybe the noise could indicate the impending possibility that the care could be traveling down the highway one of these days and the wheel could fall off or something.
Thanks for any ideas...
