To add to what RS has said, you generally don't want your TBV/BPV/DV to hoot. This usually means the diaphragm is already torn, & it's the air blowing thru this hole which causes the tear to vibrate (hoot). There *is* one possible exception to this. Early Bosch valves had all-rubber diaphragms, & these could vibrate under normal operating conditions. These models were replaced with ones that had small brass disks clamped in the center, which eliminated the "vibrating rubber sheet" effect. If you're running a Bosch valve, look for a part number on the side of the valve. #0280142103 is the old part number, & has been replaced by #0280142110, which has the small brass disk (& thinner, tougher diaphragm material).
