are the wiring harnesses the same for automatic and manual 900s?
Could those wires be connections for the automatic shifter
illumination and Park/Neutral safety switch, redundent in a
5 sp..

Water under your floor mats? Check your windshield gasket - if
you can see water on the inside bottom edge it's leaking. Fix it
ASAP, my car had a leak when I bought it which resulted in rusty
floorboards and possibly a cracked windshield from ice forming
"inside" the gasket. To fix it, get a tube of silicone aquarium sealant.
(That stuff is designed to seal against pressure!) After a few
dry days, carefully lift the gasket away from the windshield and
inject sealant underneath all around the window. Then, run your
finger around the W/S gasket, pushing to squeeze out excess
sealant. Use something to smear the excess down, leaving a
1/4" border of sealant on the glass itself. This worked for me
to cure further leakage.
