I myself have a bum delay relay in my 90' Conv, which my mechanic diagnosed. Depending on what kind of wiring problem exists, all or a single "side" of the relay will burn out (probably due to faulty ground contacts, shorting or the like). This causes no lights to come on at all upon opening the door/s (switch in the delay position) and can, like I said, happen to just a single door yet mysteriously leave the other door/s "opperative". My driver's side door (of all to burn out!) has this issue but the passenger's side is just fine. Of course, with both doors open: no symptoms. Unfortunately, I have had this relay replaced before (I'm fairly certain) so my advise to you would be to correct the electrical fault before you bother to replace the relay. It runs close to $80 for the convertible model! Heaven help us...
