Where to find a CHEAP engine?

The post on the free 2.1 the other day got my mind working. I went out to my '87 900S, victim of a bad ring, sitting in the backyard. You know, this was a nice car, if I could find a free engine, I'd love to fix her up, give her to my girlfriend, or mayber even turn over the '95 to the girlfriend and keep the '87 for my own personal enjoyment. I think it would be fun to learn to R&R a classic Saab engine, to boot. I don't have much extra cash, though, so this will have to be a drawn-out project. I really can't afford to drop more than $150 or so on a motor, and no business I've found has been willing to let one go that cheap.
So I tried to panhandle walt's free 2.1 off him, and I got a couple offers of free engines, but they're in NY. I would even consider driving out there, but it would have to wait till summer. So is there anyone in California willing to part with a 16v 2.0 n/a for a charity case like me? Maybe you bought a parts car to put the tranny in your turbo, or whatever. I'd like to stay away from junkyards, because if I'm gonna take all the time to put it in, I want to be sure it'll run. If anybody has one that runs and doesn't smoke (I swear my '87 was a 2-stroke by the time I stopped driving it), I would love to come and help you take it out, load it up, and take you and your family for a very nice dinner to compensate for your trouble. Don't let another Saab die!
Anyway, get ahold of me at 661-342-6207, or send an email to s900pilot@hotmail.com
You guys rock!
