92 900 conv rear seat wires/diodes?

Hi all,
I have a 92 900s convertible. I pulled the back seat to check ECU fault codes and noticed a broken diode inside of a 3 inch long black plastic sleeve that is connected in series to a brown wire. In looking at the Bently manual it showed that such a diode assembly was used for the convertible top in 87 and 88. My top works fine. Any ideas? Is it just a left over using the same harness and is not used on mine?
Question #2: There is a single wire with a blade terminal coming out of the bottom of the lower seat cushion for the rear seat. I didn't think the rear seat was heated. There is no obvious ground since the seat does not bolt down it just snaps in the front and any metal/metal contact is painted. I'm hopelessly curious what this wire would be???
Thanks everyone for a newbie post!
