I agree with Kent. If you're feeling really saucy, you might consider installing a bunch of M14 studs in the hub at the same time. That'll solve all your problems quite handily - no annoying pin and simple wheel swaps, too. Probably add $50 (tops) to the cost involved.
One thing to be aware of: Steel wheels for '88+ 900s and 9000s require difference lug bolts than alloys. Since the steel wheels don't have as much metal between the "acorn" and the mounting surface the bolts must be shorter to accomodate. If you don't, well, I don't know what will happen but I wouldn't risk it. :) That's another argument for going with studs instead of lug bolts... :)
